Basically, you can’t do anything without a 60% supermajority. It doesn’t matter who controls Congress. So politicians get elected and say “Sorry, our party can’t fix your problems”

On Reddit, some americans believe it’s a great idea. It’s crazy.

Thank god that Canada doesn’t work like that.

    You may need to study up on your civics. I don’t think there is anything in the US that requires a 60% majority. In the Senate you do run into issues below 60% due to filibuster, but an actual vote to pass a bill doesn’t require 60%. And the house is pretty much always simple majority, a tie is actually a failure to pass a bill.
