    i.e. one of his sixteen (but possibly fewer) grandparents is James Garfield. I think it’s easy to have a little tunnel vision when talking about more distant ancestors.

        Typically one has eight great-grandparents.

        Guessing from the hostile tone of your response that my own tone was badly conveyed. I was just making a general observation that we seem to automatically treat relatively distant ancestors with the same significance as grandparents. I do the same.
