My sibling is trying to launch an AI music career and it drives me off a fucking cliff. No shit, one of the songs they made was used at a funeral and I nearly barfed. No, not a chance. They need to make these criminals accountable, and if they can’t, they need to invent new laws to lock them away forever (no joke, I don’t care how unconstitutional it is, never stopped the current administration). Things need to change, this has to be a lesson.

I doubt it will happen though. 4 seconds after winning, if the dems get power, they will once again discover decorum and will claim it to be their most precious asset.

But even then I won’t despair, because at least a slightly less criminal enterprise will be in control and we can vote for better ones next time.

This of course will never happen though, because instead of incremental changes for good in the right direction, moron Americans will fall for the next “one weird trick” when a single election doesn’t solve every problem in the world.

I tried finding a nice color, but the deal I found on my grey vehicle was too good to pass up. So, I’m coving it with stickers instead.

It’s personal preference. I grew up staring at green screens. I am at home pawing through config files, I like seeing things from the bottom up.

So, portainer was a nice easy button to ease my transition from VMs to containers, but just like VMWare, I started on the GUI, eventually moved to CLI.

Portainer was a great start into docker, but it’s so much easier and better to just use compose and cli. Lazydocker if you really want point and click.

I still have my old install running on my homebrew NAS, but all it’s doing is running plex and a Minecraft server. I need to rebuild, at which point it goes.

I’ll second bazzite. I have it on an old laptop as the family machine, so it’s kid approved. I don’t personally love it, but I have nothing bad to say about it, I’m just a greybeard who prefers my boring LMDE.

So, it’s one of my go-to suggestions for a good, daily drive-able step into Linux. I like that the immutability makes it easier to recover, for when they inevitably call me for tech support (haven’t had to rely on it much yet, but that’s the theory anyway).

I tried buying a box of borax for some ant control, but accidentally ordered a case. So I toss some in to every load or laundry these days and it’s really helped my results. I swear colors are brighter and the scent is fresher.

Pretty much. I’m a data hoarder, to a degree. My homebuilt, Ship of Theseus NAS is about 15 years old, and it contains data going back over 20. I save everything I produce.

I figure that one day, this data of mine will be fed into a system for future use, in the vein of how they construct people in the Star Trek Holodeck. So, I feel it’s up to me to curate that data, and be sure it’s accurate and reflects who I am.

These days it’s obvious that it will eventually be turned into training data for an LLM, but then at least, my data will have some structure and personality to it. Maybe someday a joke will be cracked for someone that came from a pattern I established. Probably not, but one can dream.

Most of the time it does work, which is why it’s so goddamned hard to undo. I’ve been working on de-appleing, I’ve nearly completely de-Amazoned and am also working on de-googling. But these damn providers make it so difficult, they get in so deep. It’s not even me that makes it hard, I’m willing to make a little extra effort for a more privacy focused platform I control. No, it’s the family and friends that all are perfectly comfortable handing control of their data and frankly lives (everything is in these fucking things, schedule, contacts, financial stuff, all digital communication, photos, videos, etc…).

As long as you keep spending a lot of money, and upgrading to the newest devices, you will have a decent experience. As soon as you try to extend the life, find alternatives, look for ways to control your own data, then it gets real hard.

To be fair, it’s not just Apple. Google, Microsoft, Amazon, any of the big players are the same. They all manage to make it easy, so long as you are comfortable being captured.

I’m a big fat guy who sweats a lot. I’ve never cared about the sweat though only the smell. So my whole life I’ve used nothing but deodorant, NEVER antiperspirant.

I’ve never had problems with either pit stains, nor lingering odor. I’m pretty convinced that antiperspirant leads to more smell; I’m not saying I’m fresh as a daisy at all times, but even at my worst, my odor isn’t that bad, while drier people often stink to high heaven.

This shit drives me up a wall. I try to only buy peanut butter made out of peanuts, so for years now I’ve been buying “natural” peanut butter. I recently noticed however that 100% “natural” doesn’t mean shit as all the natural brands are loaded with palm oil. I honestly might have to start making my own.

It sucks because my family treats me like an insane person when I look at the ingredients and nutrition of the food stuff we buy. Food culture in the US is awful, just awful.

I understand the authors reasons, but for me personally, having paid for the app, I’ll use it until it no longer suits my needs. Right now it does early what I need and does not cause me any issues. As soon as the enshittification hits me though, I’ll abandon it for something else. I also would not recommend someone purchase it, given the new pricing, and the availability of free alternatives. Had they been there when I paid for Plex, I’d be using them instead.
