Someone asked me how to install Matrix on Android, so I told them to search for Element on the Play Store, but the app there looks scammy. It’s listed as “Element X — Secure Chat & Call” by New Vector Limited, with 4.4 stars and only 644 reviews. Is that the right app?
I installed Element from F‑Droid, but I don’t want to tell someone to install more than one app just so we can communicate.
Updating: Using that package there was an “Unexpected error: Missing CSRF cookie”
Yeah, element x replaced element.
While it’s a bit better than the old one, there is no multi account capability and no emoticons.
I find it useless for these two reasons.
