I turned off the heat and opened windows, as it’s supposed to get several degrees warmer yet before cooling down. Sure it’s a bit cold from an objective standpoint, but it’s only 60 (15.6C) in my place in winter anyway and very dry, so feels similar. Cats are thrilled to be able to smell outside for the first time in months.

The crisp damp air (from snowmelt) feels absolutely lovely, especially after a couple weeks ago when it hit -12 (-24.4C) for two days. It’s certainly alarming to have the temp as it is in February, but it feels nice. And oh man don’t get me started on getting rid of the stale air!

Anyway, it’s a lovely day and I just wanted to share :)

37.4, I can see that. I don’t open the windows at that temp (45f/7.2c is about the lowest I’ll go) because I have a turtle, but I do very much enjoy going outside when it hits solidly above freezing.

I think around 14 yrs now? They can live a max of like 20, so not doing too bad. His tank mate died a year back tho, so he’s been pretty lonely. Super friendly variety, likes interacting with my fingers.

They are reeves turtles, aka Asian pond turtles, and get a max of about 4 inches, so real tiny. My male topped out at 2 inches and the female got 4. They aren’t common in the US because their max size is just at the lower limit for selling turtles so they have to be fully mature adults before sale. I bought mine as newly hatched research animals, because that’s a loophole. :)

That’s interesting that they only have a 20 year lifespan, I always thought turtles lived to be like 100+ years or something. I guess it depends on the species
