Seemingly as part of April Fools celebration, lemmy.zip instance hosts a famous game of “The Button”!
The rules are simple: each player has one chance to push a button. If no one presses a button in 15 minutes after you did it, you and your team win!
Just found it out in a random Lemmy corner and I think others might wanna join in on the fun:
P.S. enter your user and instance names, and a bot will PM you your personal login link
Team? Win? The original Button didn’t have teams or winning. That’s not as good because then there are a chunk of people who are actively incentivized not to press it.
The Button was interesting because teams/button ideologies formed organically.
The game is over already!
The game? THE GAME?
Aw shit
Awww, I didn’t land my press! Waited for a tenser moment, and got distracted for 2 hours
nooo its already over
Season 2 seems to be planned for some time in the future, so stay tuned!
I didn’t read the post lmao ignore this
I was there to see the fastest AND slowest reaction presses. Which makes sense, since it was several people reacting to the button almost hitting zero at the same time. I was one of those people, and just barely missed out on the leaderboard.
Tensions must have grown a lot near the end. When I saw it 2-3 hours before it ended, the closest it got to was just above 1 minute.
Thank you for explaining the game. I didn’t understand the explanation on the original post.
Didn’t see the original post, so hopefully my one was indeed useful! Happy to help
I missed the game. Did it tell you which team pressed it last? If you put some kind of buy-in/prize to this it seems like it could get really tense.
@mschae@discuss.mschae23.de (Green team) was the last to press a button.
Purple team held the lead for longest.
Yay, team green!
Congrats to Greens in the name of Purples!
Congratulations on winning the button!
Thanks, but the individual cup is for you! 🏆
I meant while it was ongoing. Like if it tells you its not on your team right now.
Yes, the timer was colored in the team color of the person who pressed the last, and chat could see who pressed it.
