I really wish they’d sign a joint agreement to switch names. The geographical locations are misleading!
I’ve come to accept that a lot of things in life aren’t how they should have been when you look at them today. Swapped names are just the tip of the iceberg.
Greenland has over ten times the area of non-glaciated land that Iceland does. So if you’re measuring “green” in terms of absolute area instead of percentages, the name fits.
The Saga of Erik the Red states: “In the summer, Erik left to settle in the country he had found, which he called Greenland, as he said people would be attracted there if it had a favourable name.”
It’s fun when things don’t match up…
I love that Iceland and Greenland are kind of… Inverted geographically…
Do you see this hat? What kind of hat is it?
No.
I actually adore it
not really. its funny trivia thing. Honestly I feel like land is more an island thing and iceland feels to big for it. Feels like it should have some other name completely.
No, Until 2025 I never gave either place any thought, and then all of a sudden dRump was talking invading.
